WIX® Filters Passes $45K Mark In Filter Out Cancer Fund Drive

Two months remain in 2010 Filter Out Cancer campaign
WIX® Filters, a member of the Affinia Group family of brands, has raised more than $45,000 to date for the American Cancer Society in partnership with customer in-store fund-raising efforts in the Filter Out Cancer campaign. Two months remain in the campaign created to raise money for cancer awareness, research and support.
“All of the money raised through the Filter Out Cancer program is being given to the American Cancer Society, directly impacting the communities in which it was donated,” said Jeff Blocher, brand manager for WIX Filters. “We thank the people of WIX and our vendor partners who built the banks and contributed the raw materials. And, thank you to our customers for their amazing generosity and creativity in generating the contributions we have to date, and we eagerly await the final tally in December.”
Participating auto parts stores across the United States purchased WIX Filters Filter Out Cancer Kits that contained program details, point of sale pieces and pink oil filter banks. The participating retailers are using the kits in several creative ways to collect funds from customers and employees and making contributions on behalf of their stores. WIX Filters also donated $25,000 directly to the campaign through proceeds from the sale of the filter banks.
The Filter Out Cancer campaign began in October of 2009 at the NASCAR Banking 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. That weekend 47 drivers signed three special WIX Filters Filter Out Cancer oil filter banks that were auctioned earlier this year and raised an additional $1,100 for the American Cancer Society.
